Forced arbitration Bill passes U.S. House, NFL plaintiff Flores among supporters

Proposed legislation targeting forced arbitration clauses, introduced to Congress last March, has passed a U.S. House of Representatives vote late Thursday[U.S. time]. The legislation would impact U.S. sports arbitration and assist high-profile legal matters, including ex-NFL Coach Brian Flores's race-based lawsuit.

The Forced Arbitration Injustice Repeal Act ('FAIR Act') passed the House in a 222 to 209 vote, thanks to Democratic party support. The Bill was widely resisted by Republicans and business groups, and forced arbitration has previously been an alley of major sporting entities like the NFL in shielding itself from lawsuits.
