International Basketballer released from contract due to anti-vax stance

A professional basketball player has been released from his contract for an anti-COVID-19 vaccination stance despite having nearly two years left to run on the contract.

Despite the player, New Zealand international Tai Webster, mutually agreeing to the termination of his playing contract, it is a case likely to raise legal questions where athletes refuse to get a COVID-19 vaccination, making travel difficult or impossible. Also, questions where a club unilaterally terminates a player for not getting a vaccine but the player seeks to pursue legal remedies against that decision.
