Weekend Roundup: Valieva free to compete, strong reaction from critics, IOC

Whilst the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva is free to compete in the individual event in Beijing, critics have lashed the decision to not impose a provisional suspension whilst the cloud of a positive doping test hovers over her, while the IOC has sought to change the individual event's rules in response to the "inconclusive" situation.

Earlier, the Court of Arbitration in Sport Ad-Hoc Division ('CAS AHD')- after a marathon six-hour hearing that finished in the early hours of Monday morning in Beijing- issued a press release confirming the CAS AHD Panel had confirmed there will be no provisional suspension against Valieva, thus dismissing the appeals of the IOC, WADA and the International Skating Federation ('ISU').
