Weekly Combine Newsletter: ANZSLA sports law conference underway

Many of Australia and New Zealand's top sports lawyers, administrators, students and more have converged upon Byron Bay for the annual conference conducted by the Australia and New Zealand Sports Law Association ('ANZSLA').

The conference is ANZSLA's first since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and this version has still been impacted by heavy flooding in the area but managed to kick off yesterday. With a virtual presentation from the high-profile CEO of the United States Anti-doping Agency, Travis Tygart, well received by the audience.

The conference, the 30th held by ANZSLA, aims to discuss and explore critical issues in the industry, including doping, concussion, governance, ethics, in-house and more, and about 110 attendees from the industry are present.

The conference concludes with a full Friday program today, among the highlights are a virtual keynote address from Raelene Castle- Cheif Executive of Sport New Zealand- and from Jeff Pash- General Counsel of the NFL.
